About FIED

Pioneering incubation and agripreneurship at IIM Kashipur

Foundation for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development (FIED), the incubation center of IIM Kashipur, a Section 8 Company, has been instrumental in creating an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in Uttarakhand.

FIED is built in an area of 20,000 sq. ft., running projects of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare. FIED is channelizing its efforts majorly in Agriculture Technology and Agri-entrepreneurship, but also actively working in the domains of Tourism, Education, and Sustainable Technologies.

FIED operates within the IIM Kashipur campus. Spread over 200 acres, the host institute is located in the Kashipur city of the Udham Singh Nagar district (Uttarakhand). Situated in one of the most densely industrialized regions, Kashipur offers numerous avenues for starting up and entrepreneurship.

Over the years, IIM Kashipur FIED has been at the forefront of fostering innovation, empowering startups, and strengthening the agribusiness ecosystem in India.

Since 2019, with the generous support of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, IIM Kashipur FIED has incubated sixty plus agri-focused startups under the RKVY-RAFTAAR Agri-Business Initiative, providing financial assistance ranging from INR 5 lakhs to INR 25 lakhs with a significant government grant of INR 9.6 crores over the past five years.

Beyond funding, these startups have benefited from capacity-building programs, mentorship, and networking opportunities that have enabled them to scale and thrive in the competitive agribusiness landscape. The financial success of these agri startups is noteworthy, having raised over INR 300 crores in external funding from prestigious venture capital firms such as Omnivore, Bertelsmann, Omidyar Network, and Sequoia Capital India.”

At IIM Kashipur, we firmly believe that fostering an enabling ecosystem for agri-startups is essential for economic growth, employment generation, and rural prosperity.

Through the Foundation for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development (FIED), we have been committed to nurturing innovation, supporting agripreneurship, and strengthening the startup ecosystem in Uttarakhand. FIED’s efforts in bridging the gap between rural enterprises and global markets have led to the incubation of numerous agri-startups, enabling them to scale their businesses and improve agricultural value chains.

One of our key initiatives has been our collaboration with the Department of Rural Development, Uttarakhand, where we have trained over 300 micro-entrepreneurs engaged in agriculture and allied activities. By working closely with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and cluster-level federations, we have helped entrepreneurs develop business plans, enhance financial literacy, and adopt effective community business management practices.”
